Toray plans bio-based polymer transition

No comments :

image Japanese textile giant Toray has said it plans to transition all of its polyester fibre production to ‘plant-based’ polyester where at least 30 per cent of the biopolymer is derived from waste molasses – a by-product of the sugar industry that is normally disposed of. The company, which has an annual polyester capacity of 488,000 tonnes, has also commenced work on the construction of a pilot-scale facility to help it make 100 per cent bio-based polyester yarns.
